Bank of Kimchi resources and Information – Compliance Requirements for Packaging and Transportation of Biological Resources

• Precautions
  • The packaging time must be set so that delivery is completed within 48 hours of packaging. (Shipments on Fridays are prohibited.)
  • All biological resource-related data included in the deposit application form must be completed accurately and thoroughly.
  • Failure to comply with these guidelines may result in rejection of the submission or a request for additional biological resources.
• Packaging and Transportation Method of Biological Resources
  • Preservation container and quantity: At least two cryo vials preserved in frozen condition
  • Temperature inside the transport container (styrofoam box): Must be maintained at –20 ℃ or below
  • Biological resources must first be wrapped in aluminum-foil bubble wrap (340㎜ × 200㎜ × 360㎜) and then placed inside a styrofoam box
  • Dry ice filling amount depending on the volume of the transport container (reference for temperature maintenance)

• Biological resource-related data must be completed in the “Depositing Institution” section of the continuity record sheet requested by Bank of Kimchi resources and Information and submitted accordingly.
  • Name and quantity of biological resources
  • Delivery specification of biological resources: Frozen (–20 ℃ or below)
  • Packaging date and time: (YYYY-MM-DD, hh:mm:ss)
  • Internal temperature at the time of packaging
  • Transport container volume / Amount of dry ice filled
  • Transport method: Direct transport, courier delivery, or others
  • Signature of preparer and responsible person from the depositing institution
