(Dec 6) World Institute of Kimchi ‘Industry-Academic-Related Consultative Group’ launching ceremony

The World Institute of Kimchi has launched in earnest the ‘Industry-Academic-Related Consultative group’ composed of experts in related fields to meet the needs of policies and markets in a dynamic internal and external environment related to kimchi, and to strengthen the unique functions and internal capabilities of the institute and to expand its scope.

The World Institute of Kimchi held the launching ceremony of the ‘Industry-Academic Related Consultative Group’ at Lotte City Hotel in Daejeon on December 6th, appointed 31 experts from relevant institutions in the industry, academia, research and government as expert committee members and presented them with a letter of appointment.

The 'Industry-Academic-Related Consultative Group' includes top experts in kimchi-related fields from industry and academia, as well as organizations such as the Korea Food Research Institute, Korea Rural Economic Research Institute, Korea National Food Cluster, and Korean Food Promotion Institute that collaborate with the World Institute of Kimchi, and Kimchi R&D and promotion project managers of the research community and the government such as the Ministry of Science and ICT, Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, Rural Development Administration, Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation and Gwangju Metropolitan City, etc.

The 'Industry-Academic-Related Consultative Group’, as a major advisory body of the World Institute of Kimchi, is scheduled to perform demand discovery, planning, expansion of collaboration, and advice for the research center’s key projects to make a practical contribution to the kimchi industry. The term of office is three years.

In particular, the World Institute of Kimchi grants expert members of the consultative group a review and advisory role on re-establishment of roles as a research institute specializing in kimchi, and innovation in future kimchi research and development and promotion projects, and then plans to derive objectively verified results from the perspective of an external expert.

Hae-choon Chang, Research Director of the World Institute of Kimchi said, “As a research institute specializing in kimchi, it has a preemptive technological capability and faithfully performs its role of distributing it to related institutions, thereby establishing the identity of the institution and contributing to national development through unwavering efforts toward innovation. We will make a leap forward as a small but strong research institute.” To this end, she said, "Active support and cooperation from the expert members of the industry-academic-related consultative group are necessary, so we will continue active communication between the research institute and the expert members of the consultative group."

Meanwhile, this launching ceremony of the industry-academic-related consultative group was held under strict preventive measures while all of the participants and the host had completed vaccinations.
